Practice Paint-Around
This
is a new activity that is bound to be an experience – we think a fun one! Depending on how
our practice session goes, we are considering a Paint-Around
fundraiser later in the year. The way it works is
something like this: A team of artists will paint for one hour
on a painting, one artist at a time, rotating from painting to
painting. For our practice paint-around, each artist will
go home with a painting that has been worked on by other artists!
Each artist should come with something to paint (a photo, an
object or a few small objects), an easel, pastel paints, paper
or painting surface, and a sense of adventure. Teams
will be set up depending on how many artists participate. Each
person will have a set number of minutes to work on a painting
and then will move to another painting, and so forth until
a set of 10-20 minutes is completed in one hour (for example,
a team of three artists would have 20 minutes per painting
for one hour).
Location: Rescue, CA.

General Meeting & with Guest Speaker
Our special guest for this meeting is artist and author, Margot Schulzke. A longtime columnist for The Pastel Journal, she is widely regarded as an authority on the subject of composition and design. Her book, "A Painter’s Guide to Design and Composition" (Northlight) was released, to rave reviews, February 2006. She believes that fine traditional paintings must be able to stand on their own as abstract compositions. Schulzke's primary interest is in shapes and proportion. This will be a wonderful opportunity to learn more about composition.

Estate,
